Nigeria Online began in 2019. With a plan in the works much earlier, Nigeria Online transcended the definition of a social media presence worthy of a country where democracy is seldom practised but acknowledged nonetheless.
Originally, we came up with the concept of a committee that we intended to improve upon eventually. This model is documented in an older version of our proposal and the quote below is exemplary of that:
“Critical decisions on how we spend our funds will be privately debated amongst committee members which will have some positions that aren’t permanent.
However, all committee members will retain the same power with a supervisor* that has the ability to make small-scale changes.
We’ll prioritise representation from different states in our Committee selection process in an effort to be as inclusive as possible
These changes can effectively be vetoed if more than half of the committee members deem it incompatible with the ultimate goal of restructuring our democratic institutions [read our ethos].”
However, times have yet again changed – for the better of course. In this specific case, we thought of a model that we could emulate that would fastrack decisions on Nigeria Online. In this specific case, decisions that would affect the successful execution of the primary objective of the platform. Read our proposal here to learn more!
