      Etche (Echie) is one of the Igbo subgroup in Nigeria. They occupy some parts of Rivers State, Abia State , Imo State, Delta State and Edo State in Southern Nigeria, Benue State and Kogi State in the middle belt region of the country. The majority of Etche people today inhabit two Local Government Areas (LGA) of Rivers State, namely Etche Local Government Area and Omuma Local Government Area. Etche/Omuma is one of the 13 federal constituencies representing River State in Nigeria's National Assembly and part of the Rivers East Senatorial District. Okehi is the Council Headquarters and political capital of Etche, while Eberi is the political capital of Omuma.

      Port Harcourt Local Government Area (PHALGA) is a local government area of Rivers State in southern Nigeria. It is one of the 23 local government areas created for the state. Its administrative seat is located in Port Harcourt. Although the local government consists of two different ethnic groups the Okrika(Ijaw) in the South and Ikwerre in the North, it has been advised that the local government be divided into two homogeneous local governments.

      Tai is a Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State in Nigeria. It covers an area of 159 km2 and at the 2006 Census it had a population of 117,797. It is part of the Okrika/Oyigbo/Tai/Eleme constituency of the Nigerian Senate, represented since April 2007 by George Thompson Sekibo. In the April 2007 elections the Tai LGA recorded an implausible 99.6% turnout for the Governorship election. Celestine Omehia of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party was at first declared winner, but his election was later annulled and Rotimi Amaechi, also of the PDP, was declared governor. In February 2009, the Chairman of Tai Local Government Area was Barry Mpigi.
